WSAA was contracted to study traffic patterns at nine schools on five campuses for Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. After analyzing the traffic patterns and areas of conflict, WSAA developed multiple scenarios at each school to address the needs specific to the particular school. Both construction and non-construction options were recommended in a report that included schematic drawings for each school. WSFC School is currently pursuing funding for campus improvements.

The design of the 80,000 sf onsite replacement school includes bus and vehicle loops, parking, utilities, public street improvements, fields/playgrounds, a biocell and demolition of existing buildings. The design is complicated because the existing school will remain operational during construction. All construction must be phased to allow adequate access, parking, utility coverage and student safety throughout the 18 month construction period. Project cost is estimated at $16 million.

The design of the 120,000 sf, $25 million, onsite replacement school includes bus/vehicle loops, parking, utilities, public street improvements, athletic facilities and demolition of four existing buildings. The design is complicated because the existing school will remain operational during construction. WSAA is providing construction documents for the design of the 120,000 sf school including bus and vehicle loops, parking, utilities, athletic facilities and a sanitary sewer outfall. Local, state and federal permits are being obtained. The design and construction timeframe has been significantly condensed due to bond funding requirements. As a sub-consultant to ESPA Architects, WSAA developed construction drawings and technical specifications for the 40,000 sf building collocated with two existing schools. The site work included two stream crossings and four biocells along with associated parking, bus and car loops, play areas and utility mains. City, County, State and Federal permits were obtained for the Guilford County Schools' project.

WSAA provided civil engineering design of new K-8 academic building on an occupied campus including parking, utilities, athletic fields, plazas, stormwater pond and bioretention cells. WSAA previously designed the collocated church site which remained open during construction. The design included a wet detention pond sized and multiple bioretention cells along the perimeter of the parking lot, which also serve as the required landscaping.

WSAA was a subconsultant to Ersoy Brake Appleyard Architects for the design of an on-site replacement elementary school for Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. In order for the new school's construction to not interfere with the operations of the existing school, the design required two phases. Phase I consisted of building the new school, and Phase II was demolition of the old school and construction of parking of the new school.

Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools acquired a vacant parcel of land for this new elementary school. The design included footprint, utilities, including offsite sanitary sewer outfall, parking, bus loop, car loop and athletic fields. Turn lanes were required at the main entrances to the school to handle the additional traffic flow. WSAA was a subconsultant to Ersoy Brake Appleyard Architects.

Guilford County Schools selected WSAA to design track and field renovations at four high schools. The existing track surface at Southwest High School was demolished and a new latex surface was installed. The event surfaces and landing pits were upgraded, including the addition of a second sand pit. The lane widths were increased to meet current track standards and a sidewalk adjacent to the track to provide access to the visitors side was installed.

Guilford County Schools selected WSAA to design track and field renovations at Andrews High School. The existing track surface was demolished and a new latex surface was installed. The field event areas were also resurfaced and new fencing was installed to create better access to the track.

Guilford County Schools selected WSAA to design track and field renovations at High Point Central High School. The existing track surface and asphalt was demolished and new asphalt and latex track surface were installed. The track was also increased from six lanes to eight lanes, an underdrain system was installed and new long jump facilities were created.

Guilford County Schools selected WSAA to design track and field renovations at Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, NC. A new latex surface and takeoff area were added to the track. The field event surfaces and landing pits were upgraded, including the addition of a second long jump takeoff lane and sand pit. The lane widths were increased to meet current high school track standards.

WSAA provided the design services for resurfacing two parking lots for High Point Central High School and Ferndale Middle School. The resurfacing projects were designed and permitted and construction documents were provided to the school system. .
